Jadi gini, lo pasti udah sering dengerin istilah "AI arms race" kan? Kebanyakan dari kita mikirnya pasti soal siapa yang punya model paling jitu, paling powerful, paling OP. Tapi spoiler alert: itu bukan endgame-nya.
TechCrunch baru aja nulisin sesuatu yang quite interesting nih. Anthropic—dev di balik Claude—bareng Blackstone, Hellman & Friedman, Goldman Sachs, dan investor lainnya baru aja launching Ode. Nama yang mungkin belum Familiar? Sabar, ini bakal jadi nama besar.
Apa Itu Ode?
Fractional sendiri baru aja nutup partnership 11 bulannya sama OpenAI sebelum diakuisisi.
Jadi model bisnisnya gimana? Sederhana tapi powerful: ngirim engineer-engineer elite langsung ke kantor client buat figure out gimana cara integrate AI ke workflow mereka. Bukan sembarang engineer ya—Ode ngclaim timnya adalah "elite generalist software engineers," over half-nya former founders. The kind of people yang bisa "juggle really challenging technical problem, but also own something end-to-end."
Kenapa Implementation, Bukan Model?
Ini yang bikin gue pribadi intrigued banget. Eddie Siegel, CTO Ode dan co-founder Fractional, ngomong begini:
"I think model selection matters, but it's not where the majority of calories are spent. It's one ingredient in a system that has to be engineered. It's like the choice of programming language when you build a piece of software."
Intinya? Model itu penting, tapi cuma salah satu ingredients. Yang bikin bedain itu execution dan implementation. Chris Taylor, CEO Ode, bahkan lebih blunt:
"It has never been easier to become an entrepreneur... You learn so much by trying to own problems end-to-end."
Nah, ini philosophynya Ode: non-AI companies are going to be among the big winners of this whole AI moment—IF they adopt the technology the right way. Dan "the right way" itu butuh help dari orang-orang yang beneran ngerti.
Claude-First, Tapi Gak Mandatory
Ode operate under "Claude-first" principle—artinya mereka bakal prioritize Anthropic's tech wherever possible, including fitur kayak Claude Tag in Slack. Tapi mereka gak locked-in. Kalau client butuh solution dari rival AI, they will use it. Pragmatis? Slightly. But that's the game.
Target customer mereka pun specific: perusahaan yang AI adoption-nya adalah top 1-2 priority buat CEO-nya. Bukan yang mau coba-coba, tapi yang beneran committed ngubah core business process mereka.
Geek Opinion: Deployment Wars is Real
Gue personally think ini adalah move yang genius—and also kinda obvious in retrospect.
Lo bayangin: AI labs udah spend billions buat train models. Model-model itu udah cukup capable. Tapi enterprise companies? Mereka masih struggle. Why? Because they don't know how to integrate this "magic, hallucinating ingredient" ke workflow mereka.
That's where Ode comes in. They're basically saying: "Lo gak perlu hire 100 AI engineers. Serahkan ke kita."
Tapi wait, competition-nya juga intense. OpenAI udah punya The Deployment Company. consulting giants kayak Deloitte sama Accenture juga udah create their own forward-deployed engineering (FDE) teams. So this is gonna be interesting.
Gak heran kalau Taylor confident bilang: "It's pretty easy to imagine this as a trillion-dollar company someday if we execute well." Gaspol? Maybe. But the logic tracks.
Yang jadi pertanyaan sekarang: dengan top engineering talent yang scarce, bisa gak Ode maintain quality sambil scale? Because that's the real challenge di bisnis ini.
Tapi hey, kalau mereka berhasil? Then the next great AI race won't just be about the best models—it'll be about who can successfully put those models to work inside the world's largest companies. And that's a different game entirely.
